Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri personally heard citizens’ grievances until late evening and directed prompt action by concerned departments.

A few days ago, a woman’s husband suffered a heart attack. Doctors recommended urgent surgery, but the family’s financial condition was weak. To avail benefits under the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, a ration card was mandatory. The woman approached the Deputy Commissioner during the camp with her plea. Recognizing the urgency, DC Manjunath Bhajantri immediately instructed the concerned official to issue a ration card. Within a few hours, the woman received the card. Overwhelmed with emotion, she expressed her gratitude and said, “Now I’ll be able to get my husband treated in time”.

In another case, an elderly woman filed a complaint that her son Suraj Kumar, who had secured a government job on compassionate grounds by submitting an affidavit promising to support his mother and elder brother, had since stopped providing any financial assistance. Acknowledging the seriousness of the issue, the Deputy Commissioner ordered a show-cause notice to be issued to Suraj Kumar and instructed the establishment officer to withhold his salary until the matter is resolved.
82-year-old Sukant Kumar Biswas came to the camp to report that he had not received his old-age pension. On-the-spot, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Assistant Director of Social Security to investigate. It was found that pension payments had been transferred till March, and the remaining dues for April and May would be cleared within a week. The elderly man expressed relief and gratitude for the prompt resolution.
Chhaya Devi, whose son was undergoing treatment at CIP, voiced concern about his school refusing to promote him to Class 9 despite his recovery. She explained that her son had been absent due to prolonged illness, and the school was unwilling to grant medical promotion. DC Manjunath Bhajantri immediately instructed the District Education Officer to speak with the school authorities and take appropriate action.
The Jharkhand Pig Farmers’ Association submitted an application requesting a ban on hotel food waste (leftovers), citing health concerns. The Deputy Commissioner directed the relevant municipal corporation official to initiate correspondence on the matter.
Numerous land disputes and illegal encroachment cases were also brought forward during the camp. Taking these issues seriously, the Deputy Commissioner ordered immediate inquiries by the respective Circle Officers and instructed Sub-Divisional Officers to ensure necessary action is taken.

The Deputy Commissioner addressed dozens of grievances during the camp, covering matters related to revenue, pensions, certificates, transfers, illegal occupation, health, and education. In many cases, he issued direct instructions to concerned officers over the phone and ensured that applications were forwarded for prompt resolution.
