Right to Education: 1,057 Applications for 1,217 Seats in 120 Schools; 672 Students Selected

Enrollment of Children in Private Schools through Lottery for Reserved Seats

Ranchi – Under the Right to Education Act, 2009, 25% of seats in entry-level classes of recognized private schools are reserved for children from economically weaker sections. To facilitate this, the Ranchi district administration, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri, invited online applications.

Based on the valid applications received, a lottery process was conducted on May 21, 2025, at the NIC auditorium located in the District Collectorate. The lottery was carried out by Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Ranchi Sadar, Utkarsh Kumar.

This year, 1,057 valid applications were received for 1,217 reserved seats across 120 private schools. Through the lottery, a total of 672 children were selected for admission in 92 schools.

The list of selected students has been sent to the respective schools via their login portals. Schools have been instructed to complete the admission process within the next 10 days.

The lottery process was conducted in a transparent manner in the presence of parents, school representatives, and media personnel. On this occasion, District Education Officer Vinay Kumar, District Superintendent of Education Badal Raj, District Informatics Officer Rajeev Kumar, and other officials were also present.
