Pickaxe in Hand, Serving Society — Irba Youth’s Remarkable Initiative Becomes an Inspiration
Relief from the Pit: Irba Youths Worked All Night to Fill the Dangerous Ditch
Ranchi– A dangerous pit near the Irba Small Graveyard had long been a major problem for commuters. This road serves as the main route for school and college students, villagers heading to markets, and residents of nearby settlements. Several people had already been injured due to the pit, but no concrete solution was in sight. Amidst this, Journalist Rehan and Chhote Sarkar raised the issue seriously and discussed it with Former Panchayat Samiti member Samiullah Ansari. Following their initiative, dust was dumped near the graveyard. However, since the site is right next to the National Highway, the dust lying unattended on the roadside posed an even greater risk of accidents.

In these circumstances, journalist Rehan resolved that:
“Raising issues is journalism, but sometimes, for the welfare of society, one has to pick up the tools oneself.” On that rainy and pitch-dark night, when most people were asleep in their homes, a scene of humanity unfolded. Rehan, Chhote Sarkar, Dablu, Saheb, Motu, and Sabir stepped forward with pickaxes, shovels, and pans in hand. Together, they began leveling the pit with the dust. Wet clothes, blistered hands, and the silence of the night—none of it mattered. Their sole purpose was clear: no passerby should be injured by this pit again. Within just a few hours, their hard work paid off. The pit was completely filled, bringing much-needed relief to the locals. Residents praised this initiative wholeheartedly, calling it a true example for society.

Though people often say humanity is dying, the youths of Irba proved that humanity is still alive. The truth remains—“Unity is strength,” and it is this very strength that keeps society alive. On this occasion, Azhar Ansari, Yaseen Ansari, Mustafa Ansari, Nesar Ansari, Shamshad, Irfan, and several others were present.
