Our Nurses, Our Future: Grand Celebration of International Nurses Day at Manrakhan Mahto Nursing College
Ranchi – A grand and dignified program was organized at Manrakhan Mahto Nursing College on May 12 to mark the occasion of International Nurses Day. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute to the statue of Florence Nightingale by Pratima Lakra, Registrar of the Jharkhand Nursing Council, and the college chairman, Honorable Manrakhan Mahto.

On this occasion, the dignitaries stressed the importance of recognizing and honoring the invaluable contributions made in the field of nursing. In her address, Pratima Lakra shared that Florence Nightingale, famously known as “The Lady with the Lamp,” was born on May 12, 1820. She is regarded as the founder of modern nursing, and International Nurses Day is celebrated annually in her memory. This day serves as a tribute to the dedication, service, and contributions of nurses across the world.
College Director Manoj Kumar Mahto extended his heartfelt wishes to all teachers, staff, and trainees, applauding their unwavering commitment to the nursing profession.
Addressing the audience, Principal Chitravel V. remarked that Florence Nightingale gave dignity to nursing as a profession and, through her selfless service, impacted the lives of millions. He encouraged the trainee nurses to draw inspiration from her ideals and dedicate themselves to the service of humanity.
To commemorate the occasion, students organized a rangoli and poster-making competition based on the theme “Our Nurses, Our Future: The Economic Power of Care.” In addition, the trainees enthusiastically participated in various cultural programs including dance, drama, and other creative performances.


The event was attended by all trainees, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and invited guests, making the celebration a vibrant expression of enthusiasm, reverence, and inspiration.
