Mass Protest Against Waqf Amendment Bill on April 13: S. Ali

Ranchi: A mass protest (Mahadharna) will be held in front of Raj Bhavan on April 13, 2025, in opposition to the recent amendments made by the Central Government to the Waqf Act of 1995.

In this context, a meeting of the Amya Organization was held at a banquet hall in Old Ranchi, where the organization’s central president, S. Ali, stated: “The Central Government has hastily passed the Waqf Amendment Bill in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha without taking into account the views and suggestions of the Muslim community. This amendment violates the principles of equality and religious freedom.”

Speaking on the matter, High Court advocate Shakil Parwez said: “Waqf properties across the country have largely been donated by members of the Muslim community. These include mosques, madrasas, Eidgahs, shrines, dargahs, khanqahs, cemeteries, guest houses, and educational institutions, many of which have been in existence for centuries. However, the new law proposes the inclusion of non-Muslim members in the Waqf Boards and Tribunals, which is unfair and unacceptable.”

Opposition political parties, social organizations, and religious groups will be invited to join the Mahadharna. Furthermore, a petition requesting the withdrawal of the Waqf Amendment Bill will be submitted to the President of India through District Commissioners and Block Officers across all districts.

The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including Ziauddin Ansari, Md. Furqan, Imran Ansari, Naushad Alam, Rahmatullah Ansari, Ekram Hussain, Shahid Afroz, Fazlul Qadir, Aftab Alam, Abdul Bari, Abdul Ghaffar, Javed Ansari, Sabdul Malik, Abdul Majid, Anjum Khan, Siddiq Ansari, Aurangzeb Alam, Ayub Ansari, Firoz Alam, Naseem Ansari, Asif Ansari, Mobin Ansari, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Tahmid Ansari, Manzoor Ansari, Afsar Alam, Aslam Ansari, Md. Saeed, Ikram Ansari, Abdul Basheer, Harish Alam, and Shahbaz Ahmed, along with numerous social activists and community leaders.

This Mahadharna is expected to be a significant demonstration aimed at defending equality and protecting religious rights in the face of the controversial amendments.
