Markets in Irba Adorned for Eid Preparations, Rising Demand for Vermicelli, and a Surge of Shoppers
Ranchi – Following the Friday prayers on the last Jumu’ah of Ramadan (Alvida Jumu’ah), immense enthusiasm has been observed among the Muslim community for Eid. With Eid shopping in full swing, the markets have become lively, drawing large crowds of eager buyers.
Markets Buzzing with Shopping Frenzy
On Saturday, the day after Alvida Jumu’ah, Eid shopping reached its peak. In Muslim-majority areas like Irba, fasting individuals displayed high spirits. Long queues of customers were seen at shops selling clothes, perfumes, caps, footwear, fruits, and cosmetic items.
Surging Demand for Vermicelli
One of the most cherished traditions of Eid-ul-Fitr is associated with vermicelli, leading to a significant rise in its demand. Various types of vermicelli, such as Nano, Makuti, Nafees, Mumbaiya, Punjabi, China, Prabhuji, Shahi Vermicelli, Biscuit Vermicelli, and Ghee Vermicelli, are witnessing a tremendous surge in sales.

According to traders, the prices of vermicelli have slightly increased this year, yet customers continue to purchase in large quantities.
Traders’ Preparations and Customer Preferences
Local shopkeepers have stocked up extensively in anticipation of the rising demand for vermicelli. Many traders report that this year, Nano, Biscuit Vermicelli, and Ghee Vermicelli are in the highest demand.
Trader Mojahid-ul-Islam Ansari stated,
“Every year, the demand for vermicelli multiplies during Eid. This year too, we are witnessing a massive influx of customers. In particular, the demand for Nano Vermicelli is exceptionally high.”
Eid Moon and Final Preparations
With the sighting of the moon, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday. To make the occasion memorable, people are actively shopping and decorating their homes.
Impact of Inflation and Customer Reactions
However, this year, the impact of inflation is also evident in the markets. Prices of clothing and dry fruits have surged, adding an extra financial burden on shoppers. Despite this, the excitement and enthusiasm for Eid remain unwavering.
Shopkeeper Ashraf Ali commented,
“This year, residents of Irba don’t need to go elsewhere for Eid shopping, as all essential items are available locally. Various types of vermicelli and other necessities are easily accessible in the local markets.”

Shopkeeper Mohsin Ansari added,
“The festive spirit of Eid preparations has brightened up the markets, and the atmosphere in Irba is completely immersed in the colors of the festival.”
Customer Perspective: Shoppers’ Excitement Amid Festivities
Musharraf Hussain, a local shopper, shared his excitement about the Eid preparations, saying, “Eid is a time of joy and togetherness, and shopping is an essential part of it. Despite rising prices, we are making sure to buy the best for our families. The availability of different varieties of vermicelli and other essentials in Irba has made shopping convenient and enjoyable this year.”
The festive preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr have brought a unique vibrancy to Irba’s markets. As in previous years, the demand for vermicelli has skyrocketed, and shopkeepers have made extensive arrangements to meet customer needs. Despite inflation, people are shopping enthusiastically to make their Eid celebrations special, further enhancing the festive charm of the markets.
