Jaypal Singh Munda’s Birth Anniversary Celebrated at Chuttu Ring Road Johar Dhaba Premises
Ranchi: The tribal community celebrated the birth anniversary of the great leader, educator, and international hockey player, Marang Gomke Jaypal Singh Munda, with grandeur at Johar Dhaba premises, located on Chuttu Ring Road. The program was chaired by Bachhan Oraon, President of the Regional Sarna Committee and State President of the Scheduled Tribe Wing of the Jharkhand Party. He highlighted Jaypal Singh Munda’s life and contributions, stating, Jaypal Singh Munda was not only a strong representative of Indian tribals but also a pioneering leader of the Jharkhand movement. He was a skilled politician, journalist, writer, editor, and educator. Under his captaincy, the Indian hockey team won its first gold medal at the 1928 Olympics. He was the only Indian hockey player to receive the Oxford Blue title. Bachhan Oraon further added that Jaypal Singh Munda, while holding government positions during colonial India, worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the tribal community. His efforts played a significant role in awakening the people of Jharkhand to their cultural and political identity.
