Historic Court Verdict: Accused in June 10, 2022, Ranchi Riots Acquitted

Ranchi – In a landmark judgment, the court has acquitted all accused in the June 10, 2022, Ranchi riots case, related to Lower Bazaar Police Station Case No. 133/22 (GR No. 3211/2022). After a comprehensive trial, the court found the accused not guilty and declared them acquitted of all charges.

The accused—Afsar Alam, Tabarak Qureshi, Sabir Ansari, Karan Kachhap (Mohammad Usman), and Sarfaraz Alam—had been charged under IPC Sections 147, 148, 149, 353, 188, 427, 295A, 298, 332, 504, 323, and 120B. The case was heard in the court of Hon’ble Judicial Magistrate Mayank Maliyaz, Ranchi.

After examining witnesses, conducting cross-examinations, recording the statements of the accused, and hearing final arguments from both sides, the court delivered a verdict in favor of the accused, acquitting them of all allegations.

Following the verdict, defense counsel Advocate Mohammad Khalil Ansari stated, “This is a victory for justice—especially for the innocent individuals who were wrongly accused. We are satisfied that we represented them and that the court upheld their innocence.”

Advocate Ziaullah, State Secretary of the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), said, “The accused in this case were extremely poor and helpless. APCR exists to provide legal and judicial support to such underprivileged and marginalized individuals. This verdict reinforces our commitment.”

Advocate Mohammad Mukhtar Khan, State President of APCR, added, “We will continue our fight for human and civil rights. This judgment will further strengthen the trust of the oppressed and marginalized in APCR.”

APCR Vice President, Advocate Reza Ullah Ansari, remarked, “Our organization remains dedicated to providing legal aid, and we will continue to support those in need.”

After the court’s decision, the accused and their families expressed overwhelming joy and heartfelt gratitude to Advocate Mohammad Khalil Ansari, APCR State Secretary Advocate Ziaullah, and the entire APCR team. Their joy was evident, and they described APCR’s support as invaluable.
