Hemant Soren Takes Oath as 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand

Ranchi: Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Hemant Soren as the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand at a grand oath-taking ceremony held at Morhabadi Ground in the state capital, Ranchi. The Governor and other dignitaries extended their congratulations and best wishes to Hemant Soren on assuming office as Chief Minister. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Hemant Soren acknowledged the greetings of the thousands of people gathered by waving his hand.

The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Rajya Sabha MP and former Chief Minister Shibu Soren, Congress President and Rajya Sabha MP Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann, Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka D. K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly Tejashwi Yadav, General Secretary of CPI(ML) Dipankar Bhattacharya, Minister of Tamil Nadu Government Udhayanidhi Stalin, along with several MPs, MLAs, former MPs, former MLAs, senior officials, and a large number of common people.

Ahead of the oath ceremony, Hemant Soren greeted the people present at the venue in Ranchi.

Hemant Soren tendered his resignation as Jharkhand CM to Governor Santosh Gangwar on Sunday, November 24, and staked a claim to form the government at Raj Bhawan.

The JMM led the INDIA bloc to victory with 56 seats in the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly. The JMM won 34 seats, while its allies secured 22 seats. Among the allies, Congress won 16 seats, RJD won 4, and CPI(ML) won 2 seats.

The BJP-led NDA won only 24 seats in Jharkhand. The BJP secured 21 seats, with its allies the AJSU party, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and JD-U winning one seat each.

Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha won one seat, with its chief, Jairam Kumar Mahto, emerging victorious in the Dumri constituency.
