Gift for Students Coming from Remote Areas: 500 Students Receive Bicycles in Ormanjhi

Ranchi: A heartwarming scene unfolded on Saturday at the Ormanjhi Block-cum-Circle Office premises in Ranchi district, where 500 students from government schools received free bicycles under a special program organized by the Jharkhand Government’s Welfare Department.

These bicycles were distributed among Class 8 students who walk long distances every day from remote rural areas to attend school. The chief guest of the event, Khijri MLA Rajesh Kacchap, handed over the bicycles to the students and stated that this ambitious government initiative aims to facilitate easier school commutes and encourage regular attendance.

A total of 933 students are to receive bicycles, of which 500 have been distributed in the first phase. “I hope these children grow up to become educated, responsible citizens who serve the state and the country,” the MLA added.

Deputy Pramukh Rizwan Ansari also expressed his joy, saying that it is a matter of great satisfaction that students from far-off villages are receiving this support. “Now they won’t face difficulties in reaching school, which will ensure continuity in their education,” he said.

The scheme has especially benefited students from Abdul Qayyum Ansari Urdu Middle School Irba, Irba Pahantoli, Chakla, Dahu, Barwe Urdu, Pancha, Baridih, Kucchu, Kute, Rukka, Khirabeda, and Khatanga — areas from where children often walk several kilometers through hilly and rural terrain to get to school. With bicycles now available, these students will be able to reach school on time and maintain consistency in their studies.

The joy and confidence on the children’s faces were clearly visible during the event. Several parents also praised the government’s initiative, saying they no longer have to worry about their children dropping out of school.

This bicycle distribution scheme is not just a policy — it represents a meaningful step toward social justice, educational inclusion, and strengthening rural education. The initiative has received widespread appreciation across the block.

Present on the occasion were Block Development Officer Kameshwar Bedia, Block Education Extension Officer Seema Kumari, Tulsi Kharwar, Harimohan Mahto, Ramesh Oraon, Safiullah Ansari, Suraj Pathan, Babulal Mahli, Mobarak Ansari, Mobin Ansari, and several other dignitaries.
