Don’t Mislead the Public: Samajwadi Party Advises Congress Leaders on RIMS-2 Dispute

Ranchi— Sharp differences within the Congress party have emerged regarding the proposed RIMS-2 project in Nagri Mauja. While Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee’s Working President Bandhu Tirkey has opposed the construction, Congress Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has firmly stated that RIMS-2 will be built at all costs. Expressing deep concern over the situation, Samajwadi Party’s General Secretary Mustafa Ansari called the developments unfortunate. He said that it is regrettable that such contradictory and provocative statements, which risk creating a rift between the public and the administration, are coming from two senior Congress leaders in power. On one hand, Bandhu Tirkey asserts that RIMS-2 will not be built in Nagri, while on the other, Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari insists that it will be constructed under any circumstance. Such conflicting statements have left the public confused and uncertain. He further added that it is the responsibility of both leaders to avoid issuing contradictory remarks. In matters of public interest, unity and clarity are essential — not internal contradictions. People are now left wondering what the actual stance of the government is.

Bandhu Tirkey Demands

Jharkhand Congress Working President Bandhu Tirkey met Chief Minister Hemant Soren and demanded the cancellation of the proposed land acquisition for RIMS-2 in Nagri Mauja. He stated that the villagers and raiyats (landholders) of Nagri have been cultivating and living off this land for generations. Acquiring such land, he argued, is an anti-development move. He urged the Chief Minister to immediately cancel the proposed plan.

Health Minister Clarifies: RIMS-2 Will Be Built, But Only on Government Land

On the other hand, State Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari clarified that RIMS-2 will definitely be built, and only on government-owned land. He assured that no cultivable land belonging to any raiyat will be touched. Calling Jharkhand an agrarian state, he reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting the interests of farmers. Dr. Irfan Ansari described the RIMS-2 project as a revolutionary step in Jharkhand’s healthcare system and said that opposing its construction is merely a tactic to mislead the public. He further alleged that those who oppose the project are “students of Babulal Marandi’s school of thought” and hold anti-Jharkhand views.

While one faction of the government views RIMS-2 as being against the interests of villagers, the other sees it as an essential move for public health. In such a scenario, public confusion is inevitable. The Samajwadi Party has demanded that the Congress leadership adopt a clear and unified policy on the matter to prevent public confusion and ensure policy stability.
