Constitutional Issues of Muslims to be Raised in the Lok Sabha: Pappu Yadav

Ranchi: Representatives of the Muslim community met with Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, the Member of Parliament from Purnia, Bihar, and informed him about several important issues affecting the Muslim community at both the central and state levels.

During the meeting, S. Ali, of the Amya Organization, informed MP Pappu Yadav about the continuous violation of the Places of Worship Act 1991. According to this Act, religious places that existed before August 15, 1947, cannot be converted into places of worship of another religion. If violated, the law provides for a fine and imprisonment of up to three years. Despite this, religious sites of the Muslim community are being targeted in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and other states, with lower courts being used to carry out these actions.

S. Ali also pointed out that there is a continuous attempt to amend the Waqf Act 1995. In response, millions of people have sent petitions demanding the withdrawal of the Waqf Amendment Bill. Since both of these issues are related to the central government, MP Pappu Yadav assured that he would raise them in the Lok Sabha.

Additionally, S. Ali drew attention to several key issues faced by the Muslim community in the state of Jharkhand. These include the June 10, 2022 Ranchi firing incident, mob lynching laws, the recruitment of Urdu teachers, pending issues related to madrasas, and other matters concerning justice, rights, and employment for Muslims. He expressed hope that Chief Minister Hemant Soren would address these issues and appealed for the cooperation of MP Pappu Yadav.

MP Pappu Yadav stated, “The Constitution of our country guarantees the rights and justice for all communities and classes, but the central government seems intent on abolishing these rights. We will raise our voices in both the parliament and on the streets for the justice and rights of the tribals, dalits, backward classes, and minorities.”

The meeting was attended by Mukhtar Ahmed, Syed Iqbal Imam, Tanveer Alam, Maulana Ziaul Hoda, Arsh Alam, Pappu, Muslim Ansari, Nehal Ahmed, Arshad Qureshi, Ilyas Majid, Mo Ali, Mo Ashraf, Mateen Master, Mateenur Rahman, Engineer Naseem Ali, Irshad Ahmed, and many others.
