Breastfeeding — Awareness Program Organized at Vikas Institute of Nursing
Ranchi — Vikas Institute of Nursing, operating under Vikas Group of Institutions, Neori Vikas, Ranchi, observed World Breastfeeding Week from August 1 to August 7, 2025. To mark the occasion, a series of awareness programs were organized on the campus to emphasize the importance of breastfeeding. The event began with a ceremonial lamp-lighting, jointly conducted by Radha Charan Singh (Director, Vikas Institute of Nursing), Ram Lakhan Mehta, Anil Kumar Singh, Satendra Singh, Dr. S.P. Singh, Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Anupa Khalkho, and S.K. Tiwari. Speaking on the occasion, Director Radha Charan Singh said that the primary objective of World Breastfeeding Week is to encourage and promote breastfeeding, protect it, and create a positive environment in society for its practice. He emphasized that breastfeeding is not only the most natural and best source of nutrition for infants but also strengthens the health of both mother and child. He further explained that the theme for 2025 is — “Enable Breastfeeding: Making a Difference for Working Parents”, highlighting that breastfeeding is not just a health issue but a cornerstone for building a healthy future generation. He also mentioned two important government initiatives — Mother’s Absolute Affection (MAA) programme (launched in 2016 by the Government of India) and the Pradhan Mantri Matritwa Vandana Yojana, both of which aim to promote breastfeeding and support pregnant women with financial assistance for balanced nutrition. Under the PMMVY scheme, each pregnant woman receives ₹5,000 in aid. Students effectively showcased the importance of breastfeeding through skits, poster exhibitions, speeches, and interactive sessions. Pregnant women in attendance were also encouraged to maintain a balanced diet.

The event was attended by Dr. A.P. Singh (Principal), Radha Charan Singh (Director), Dr. Shiv Prasad Singh, S.K. Tiwari, Ram Lakhan Mehta, Satendra Singh, Anil Kumar Singh, Md. Irshad, Monika Kumari, Anuradha Kumari, Anupa Khalkho, Shreya Jha, Neeta Kumari, Aaliya Kumari, along with all faculty members and students.
