Ranchi: On the occasion of an award ceremony organized by the Blood Bank, Sadar Hospital, Ranchi, Sanjay Latkar, the Additional Director General of Police, Jharkhand, attended as the Chief Guest.
He spoke about the many benefits of blood donation and emphasized that all institutions should organize blood donation camps. He also pointed out that blood may be needed in any situation, such as road accidents, where the lack of blood can prevent the saving of an injured person. Therefore, it is essential to strengthen blood banks.
He further mentioned that to understand why we should donate blood, one must experience it firsthand. By donating blood, we contribute significantly towards a healthy and happy society by making safe blood available. There are no harmful effects of blood donation. The staff at the blood bank ensures that the experience of blood donation is positive so that people can become regular donors. There are many individuals who have donated blood more than 25-100 times in their lives.
The ideal donor should be between the ages of 18 to 60 years, lead a healthy lifestyle, weigh more than 45 kilograms, and have a hemoglobin level of more than 12.5 grams. Blood can be required by anyone at any time, whether it is us or our loved ones. Blood donation also has other health benefits, such as reducing the likelihood of ischemic heart disease.
During the award ceremony, a total of 81 organizations from various institutions were honored.
The event was also attended by Civil Surgeon of Ranchi Dr. Prabhat Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Sadar Hospital Dr. Vimlesh Singh, Dr. S. Prasad, Dr. Akhilesh Jha, Dr. Stephen Kesh, Dr. Ranjoo Sinha, DPM Praveen Singh, and Ishani along with other distinguished guests.
