Bakrid Peace Committee Meeting: Call for Celebrating the Festival with Harmony

Meeting held under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner; Key Directives Issued on Arrangements

Ranchi: A district-level Peace Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Manjunath Bhajantri, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate of Ranchi, in view of the upcoming festival of Bakrid. The meeting took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall at the Collectorate.

Present in the meeting were DIG-cum-Senior Superintendent of Police Chandan Sinha, Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer Utkarsh Kumar, Additional District Magistrate Rajeshwar Nath Alok, Superintendent of Police (Urban) Ajit Kumar, Assistant Municipal Administrator Niharika Tirkey, officials from the Water Supply and Electricity departments, along with members of the Peace Committee.

During the meeting, Peace Committee members took turns sharing their past experiences and offered constructive suggestions for ensuring better arrangements during Bakrid. Key issues discussed included sanitation, public safety, waste disposal, uninterrupted water and electricity supply, and respect for the sentiments of people from all communities. Everyone emphasized the importance of celebrating the festival in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.

DC Manjunath Bhajantri assured that all suggestions given by the committee members would be taken seriously. He instructed concerned officials from the Municipal Corporation, Water Supply, and Electricity Departments to ensure all necessary arrangements—particularly in both urban and rural areas—are put in place efficiently for Bakrid.

The departments also informed committee members about the preparedness in their respective areas. The DC also directed municipal officials to arrange for an adequate number of vehicles for effective waste disposal during the festival. Committee members also pledged to contribute at their own level to maintain cleanliness and community sentiments.

Both DC Manjunath Bhajantri and DIG Chandan Sinha commended the proactive role of the Peace Committee. They said that the committee’s consistent involvement in all festivals has significantly contributed to maintaining a cordial and peaceful environment in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to share any issues or information related to public arrangements with the district administration via the Abua Saathi Helpline (9430328080).

DC Manjunath Bhajantri appealed to the residents of Ranchi to remain vigilant against rumors, and to be responsible while posting on social media. He emphasized the importance of respecting each other’s sentiments and curbing the spread of misleading or provocative content. Strict action will be taken against those found spreading hatred or misinformation on social media.

DIG Chandan Sinha said that full security arrangements are being made for the festival. The entire city will be under CCTV surveillance, and any attempts to disturb peace will be dealt with swiftly. He emphasized that no opportunity should be given to anti-social elements to disrupt the festival.
