All Schools in Ranchi District to Remain Closed on June 19, 2025, Due to Heavy Rainfall Forecast

Ranchi— In view of the forecast for heavy rainfall in Ranchi district, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri has issued an order declaring the closure of all schools in the district on Wednesday, June 19, 2025.

The order applies to all government, non-government, aided (including minority-run), and private schools operating in the district — from kindergarten (KG) to class 12.

According to a special bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi Centre, Ranchi district has been placed under the “Red Zone” category with a high likelihood of heavy rainfall. Based on this alert, the district administration has taken this precautionary measure to ensure the safety of school children.

Any violation of this order will result in legal action against the concerned school or institution under the relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

To ensure compliance, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri has issued necessary instructions to all Block Education Extension Officers, Assistant School Inspectors, Regional Education Officers, as well as all Principals / Headmasters / Acting Headmasters and relevant officials.

He clearly stated that all administrators and heads of primary, secondary, and +2 level higher secondary schools, including aided and minority institutions, along with the teaching staff, must strictly adhere to this directive.
