AMYA — Muslim Community to Stage Assembly Gherao on August 4 Over 19-Point Demands

Round Table Conference Held at Irba Center Market

Ranchi: To demand constitutional rights for the Muslim community, social justice, and legitimate entitlements for native Jharkhandis, the AMYA organization will hold a massive Assembly Gherao (encirclement) on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Old Assembly Complex, Dhurwa, Ranchi.

In preparation for this protest, a crucial Round Table Conference was held on Thursday at Irba Center Market, Bazar Tand, in Ranchi. The meeting was presided over by Muntazir Ahmad Raza, a Senior Social Activist and Former Deputy Pramukh of Ormanjhi, and moderated by Mohammad Aurangzeb, Central Joint Secretary of AMYA.

Addressing the gathering, Muntazir Ahmad Raza said:
“At a time when the Muslim community in Jharkhand is being pushed to the margins, youth are being denied employment, and Urdu education is being deliberately weakened — this Assembly Gherao by AMYA is not just a protest but a decisive step toward the restoration of rights. Our demands are not community-specific; they are grounded in the constitutional principles of inclusive development and equal representation.”

During the meeting, AMYA’s National President S. Ali stated:
“This Assembly Gherao will mark a decisive public movement against injustice, exploitation of opportunities, and the denial of constitutional rights faced by the Muslim community and Jharkhandi youth. AMYA will lead this struggle.”

The following 19-point charter of demands was presented, which form the basis of the protest:

  1. Immediate implementation of the local and recruitment policy to ensure rightful opportunities for Jharkhandi youth.
  2. Reservation for backward classes proportional to their population, with necessary enhancement.
  3. Immediate implementation of the amended 2021 Mob Lynching Bill to ensure strict action against mob violence and killings.
  4. Inclusion of Fazil and B.Ed. degree holders in the recruitment process for Urdu Secondary Teachers.
  5. Conduct of Alim and Fazil degree examinations under Ranchi University to provide recognition and ease of access for students.
  6. Filling of the remaining 3,712 out of 4,401 Urdu primary teacher posts with graduates who passed the Urdu TET in 2013/2016.
  7. Restoration of 544 Urdu schools (originally from unified Bihar) that were downgraded to general schools without verification.
  8. Immediate formation of the Jharkhand State Urdu Academy.
  9. Launch of the Chief Minister’s Minority Coaching Scheme to provide free coaching for UPSC, JPSC, JSSC, Railways, Banking, Medical, Engineering, etc.
  10. Establishment of minority schools up to +2 level in minority-dominated blocks/regions.
  11. Review of educational institutions established under MSDP / PMJVK between 2011 and 2025 to ensure minority representation.
  12. Reinstatement of the Pre-Matric Minority Scholarship Scheme by the Jharkhand Government.
  13. Adequate budget increase for minority youth under the Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Scheme.
  14. Immediate end to harassment of Bengali-speaking Jharkhandi Muslims in Santhal Pargana who are wrongly labeled as Bangladeshi infiltrators.
  15. Justice for victims of the June 10, 2022 Ranchi Main Road firing incident, and withdrawal of all FIRs filed against them.
  16. Permission for slaughter of buffalo-type animals in Jharkhand, similar to provisions in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi.
  17. Ensuring representation of the Muslim community in government and private employment in proportion to their population.
  18. Allocation of government tenders and work opportunities to minority artisans and tailoring professionals.
  19. Legal recognition and land lease allocation for Muslim religious institutions situated on government land.

The meeting concluded with a call to launch a statewide awareness campaign on muslim issues and to mobilize maximum public participation in the August 4 Assembly Gherao.
