Karbala Teaches Us to Stand Firm Against Oppression: Senior Social Worker Muntazir Ahmad Raza

Ranchi: Senior social worker and former Deputy Pramukh of Ormanjhi, Muntazir Ahmad Raza, said that the Islamic Hijri calendar begins with the sacred month of Muharram-ul-Haram. The tenth day of this month is known as Youm-e-Ashura, which is remembered by Muslims around the world as a symbol of patience, sacrifice, and the highest ideals of humanity.

He said that on the land of Karbala, Hazrat Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) and his brave companions chose to sacrifice their lives rather than bow before tyranny and injustice. Instead, they firmly upheld the path of truth and justice as shown by Allah. For this reason, Youm-e-Ashura is not just an ordinary date — it reminds us that no matter how difficult the circumstances, one must always stand firm on the side of truth and righteousness.

Muntazir Ahmad Raza said that the month of Muharram conveys an important message of fasting, charity, and patience for Muslims. According to Islamic teachings, it is recommended to fast on the 9th and 10th or the 10th and 11th of Muharram. On these days, people observe fasts, feed the needy, and perform good deeds to purify their hearts. The sacrifice at Karbala remains a timeless example of how the principles of peace, brotherhood, and humanity form the foundation of Islam.

He made a special appeal to the youth to understand the true significance of Muharram and not to limit it to mourning or rituals alone. The real purpose of Muharram is to adopt the values of patience, sacrifice, and justice in one’s life and to uphold peace and justice in society.

Muntazir Ahmad Raza also urged the local administration and the entire Muslim community to maintain peace, brotherhood, and the spirit of communal harmony during this blessed month of Muharram-ul-Haram. He emphasized that no attention should be paid to rumors and that the message of peace should be spread in neighborhoods and villages.
