Human Chain in Irba Against the Waqf Amendment Act 2025

Peaceful Protest Held on April 18 After Friday Prayers

Ranchi – As part of the nationwide protests against the Waqf Amendment Act 2025, residents of Irba, Ranchi also expressed their dissent. Under the leadership of Markazi Anjuman Society, Irba, a large number of people gathered on the roadside after Friday prayers on April 18, 2025, and formed a peaceful human chain to register their protest.

The objective of this demonstration was to raise concerns over specific provisions of the Waqf Amendment Act 2025, which are being perceived as a threat to the religious, social, and cultural rights of a particular community. Protesters stated that the law legitimizes increased government interference in waqf properties, which they believe undermines the self-reliance and religious freedom of the minority community.

The human chain witnessed active participation from men, women, and young girls alike. Many carried placards demanding the protection of constitutional rights and democratic values. The protest was conducted in a calm, disciplined, and entirely non-violent manner, without any sloganeering.

While speaking to the media, the organizers clarified that their intention was not confrontation but to express their objection through democratic and peaceful means. They urged the central government to reconsider the law and initiate dialogue with the affected communities.

Prominent individuals present during the protest included Mufti Abu Ubaida, Mufti Imran Nadwi, Mufti Furqan Qasmi, Maulana Samiul Haq Majahiri, Samajwadi Party State General Secretary Mustafa Ansari, Samajwadi Party Minority Wing State President and Markazi Anjuman Society President Imtiyaz Ohdar, Arshad Anwar, social activist and former Panchayat Committee member Karma Samiullah Ansari, senior social worker Abdul Sattar Ansari, Advocate Shahid, Humayun Ansari, Sajid Ansari, Sakir Ansari, Naushad Alam (Babu), Imroz Ansari, Sarfaraz Shahidi, Tabrez Alam (Pappu), Mujtaba Bablu, Tariq Ohdar, Naushad Anwar, Pappu Zidan, Tausif Ansari, Musharraf Hussain, Rizwan Ansari, Wasim Ansari, Meraj Ansari, Chhote Sarkar and others were present.
