50 Emergency Call Boxes in Ranchi: A Button Press Away from Instant Help, A Step by Hemant Government

Ranchi: Good news for the citizens of Ranchi. Under the direction of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Ranchi Smart City Corporation has taken an important initiative to ensure the safety of citizens. As part of this initiative, 50 yellow emergency call boxes have been installed at key intersections in Ranchi city, through which citizens can get immediate assistance during an emergency. This system is connected to the city’s Command Control and Communication Center, where automatic traffic management and crime control systems are being monitored. If a road accident occurs or a crime takes place, citizens can use these emergency call boxes to directly connect with the relevant agencies. These yellow emergency call boxes at major intersections in Ranchi are equipped with a red button. As soon as a person presses the button, immediate contact will be established with the Command Control Center, and the necessary assistance will be sent from there. The important thing is that no mobile phone is required, nor is there any need to remember a phone number.

Types of Assistance Available:

  1. Road Accidents: If there is an accident on the road, an ambulance can be arranged through the box.
  2. Criminal Incidents: In cases like chain snatching, gunshots, fights, or harassment, the police can be contacted for immediate help.
  3. Fire Incidents: If there is a fire nearby, the box can be used to alert the fire brigade.
  4. Urban Services: In case of fallen electric poles or dead animals on the road due to a storm, the incident can be reported to the Command Center.
  5. Any Other Emergency: In any other type of emergency, the box can be used to instantly connect with the relevant service.

Current Locations of the Boxes: These boxes have been installed at major locations in Ranchi, such as Kanke Ring Road, Main Road Overbridge, Sahjanand Chowk, Shani Mandir Chowk, Harmu Chowk, Argora Chowk, Satellite Chowk, Kanke Road, Birsa Chowk, Mecon Chowk, Sujata Chowk, Kokar Chowk, and others.

Future Installation: Some of the boxes were temporarily removed due to the construction of flyovers and road widening. However, once the construction work is completed, the boxes will be reinstalled. This initiative by Ranchi Smart City will not only increase the safety of the city’s residents but also ensure quick assistance in emergency situations.
